An empowerment is a special guided meditation through which we can receive the powerful blessings of a particular Buddha, come under the care of this Buddha, and have the opportunity to develop the enlightened qualities of this Buddha ourself.

Medicine Buddha is the embodiment of the healing power of enlightened beings and is a Buddha Doctor whose function is to release us from outer and inner sickness by bestowing blessings upon us. By relying upon Medicine Buddha sincerely, we can be cured of heavy physical and mental disease, and find release from the internal pain of the three poisons: attachment, anger and ignorance.

On Saturday 9th November Gen Namkhyen will grant the empowerment of Medicine Buddha and give an explanation of how we can engage in his prayers, meditations and mantra recitation. On Sunday 10th November there is a short, two session retreat that will give us the opportunity to get some familiarity with these practices.
