Navigating the Relationship Maze

As human beings we rely on various relationships throughout our lives. When our relationships turn sour it can feel like our whole world is turned upside down. Join us for an exploration of self-awareness as we learn from ancient wisdom how to navigate the complexities of our connections with others.

Always free for Members

Class Format
GUIDED MEDITATION

Each class begins with guided breathing meditation to help let go of distractions and settle the mind into an experience of inner peace.

BUDDHIST TEACHING

The teacher will then give practical advice, based on the topic of the class, explaining how we can integrate Buddha's timeless wisdom into our busy daily lives.

DISCUSSION

The class will conclude with a second guided meditation to help us take the teaching to heart. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.

What to expect at a Meditation Class

"Suitable for all individuals whatever their interest"

The meditation classes we offer are suitable for all individuals whatever their level of interest, from those who seek simple relaxation and stress relief, to those who wish to learn about Modern Buddhism.

Everyone is welcome regardless of belief; you do not need to be a Buddhist to attend.

The meditations are guided and are suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners alike. Each class is self-contained so feel free to start at any time.

Most classes last an hour to an hour and a half. There is no physical exercise, yoga, or stretching involved.

FAQ

Why do you charge for classes?

Prices per class are R90 and are free for members. As a nonprofit organisation, fees for classes and member contributions are our only source of income.

What if I don't have money and I want to attend?

Everyone can participate in the classes regardless of ability to pay. Nobody is ever turned away for lack of funds. Please speak to us.

Do I need to have experience in meditation or Buddhism to attend the classes?

No. All you need is the wish to improve yourself and the quality of your life.

Do I have to be a Buddhist to benefit from meditation?

No. Anyone can learn basic meditation and experience the great benefits. Buddhism is a non-evangelical religion. Buddhists respect all people, and are happy to help anyone regardless of whether they subscribe to another faith, or to none.

Do I need to bring anything?

You do not need to bring any mats or wear any special clothing. Comfortable chairs are used for seating. If you wish to take notes, please bring a pen and notepad.

I’ve been coming to drop-in classes for a while. Is there a class which goes into more depth?

For those who want to deepen their experience of Buddhism, we also have the Foundation Program. The Foundation Program (FP) immerses us in Buddhist teachings by studying systematically one of five texts on the FP curriculum.
