The South African National Festival is a once a year opportunity for a profound spiritual holiday guided by an internationally renowned teacher of Modern Buddhism.
Open to everyone, the South African National Kadampa Festival is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a spiritual break with like-minded people from around South Africa.
During this special festival, one of the main teachers of Kadampa Buddhism will grant a blessing empowerment and give spiritual guidance on how to integrate Modern Buddhism into daily life. This yearly event also offers the opportunity to enjoy guided meditations, chanted prayers and a meaningful holiday with Sangha friends.
The SA National Kadampa Festival is a precious opportunity to understand and practise the special presentation of Modern Buddhism taught by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the Founder of the New Kadampa Tradition. It will leave you relaxed, inspired and spiritually re-energised.

Gen-la Kelsang Sangden
Gen-la Kelsang Sangden is the Deputy Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU). She has studied and taught under the guidance of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for over 25 years.
Gen-la Sangden is well-loved for her clear and inspiring teachings and her ability to touch people’s hearts through her sincerity and loving-kindness. She will grant the empowerment and give the principal teachings at our SA National Kadampa Festival 2026.
