Tushita Kadampa Meditation Centre in Cape Town is a member of The New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU), an international association of Mahayana Buddhist study and meditation centres founded by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso in 1991 to offer the practical wisdom of Kadampa Buddhism to the people of our modern world.

We are very fortunate to have an Ordained Monk at the Centre as our Resident Teacher. To provide further Dharma Teachings there are a number of experienced Kadampa practitioners who have been following the Buddhist Path
Gen Kelsang Namkyhen is the Resident Teacher at Tushita Kadampa Meditation Centre.
He ordained as a Buddhist monk in 1999 and taught extensively in the UK and The Netherlands before coming to South Africa in 2020.
Kriss Barker has been following the Buddhist path for many years and is a dedicated Kadampa practitioner.
She teaches at Tushita KMC and also currently at Kalk Bay along with being the Administrative Director for the Centre.
Chantelle shows a wonderful example of joy and humility and has been following the Buddhist path for many years and is a dedicated Kadampa practitioner.
She gives the meditation classes on Tuesday evenings in Observatory.
Mary-Jane Mayer is a teacher who has taught for many years and formerly taught a class at Milnerton.
She is now teaching Friday lunchtimes at Tushita KMC.
Jill Wenman has been a Kadampa practitioner for many years and lives in the Observatory area.
She currently teaches the Children's Class and helps extensively at the centre.
