Residential Meditation Retreat Western Cape

Karma, Sickness and the Path to Healing
Discover alternative or complementary paths to healing based on Buddha’s teachings on karma and the mind on this meditation retreat in the Western Cape.
In this Meditation Retreat we learn how in his teachings on karma Buddha explains how all our actions are causes and all our experiences are their effects. In this context our experience of sickness is seen as being the effect of negative karma, or negative actions, of the past. Related to this, is the understanding that there is also a relationship between our experience of sickness and what goes on in our mind, since all actions originate in the mind and we experience everything through our mind. On this retreat we explore the relationship between our mind, karma and sickness and based on this alternative or complementary paths of healing such as learning to relate more positively to sickness, acceptance and purification practices.
On this retreat we will maintain silence until lunchtime.

The retreat will be held at Goedgedacht Farm, a picturesque farm on the mountain slopes of the Riebeek Valley, only about an hour from Cape Town. The farm is peaceful and serene, and the rooms offer stunning views over rows of grapevines and olive trees, out to the surrounding valley below. The venue has a charming multifaith chapel, which is where we hold the meditation sessions and classes. In the mountains behind the farm, there are multiple hiking and mountain biking trails, suitable for all fitness levels. There is also a lovely small dam for swimming.
